At the beginning of the twentieth century psychologists discovered ways and means to measure intelligence that developed into an obsession with IQ. In the mid 1990’s, Daniel Goleman popularised research into emotional intelligence, EQ, pointing out that EQ is a basic requirement for the appropriate use of IQ. In this century, there is enough collective evidence from psychology, neurology, anthropology and cognitive science to show us that there is a third ‘Q’, ‘SQ’ or Spiritual Intelligence. SQ is uniquely human and, the authors argue, the most fundamental intelligence. SQ is what we use to develop our longing and capacity for meaning, vision and value. It allows us to dream and to strive. It underlies the things we believe in, and the role our beliefs and values play in the actions that we take and the way we shape our lives.

Review: Zohar’s Spiritual Intelligence is just so much more well-presented that my first introduction to SQ … makes more sense to me, and is a broader treatment than those which purport to tell you how to manipulate other people for your personal dominance (i.e. SQ21: The Twenty-One Skills of Spiritual Intelligence by Cindy Wigglesworth.) For folks who want to use this perceptive world-view to better understand and anticipate their fellow humans, this book is edifying and satisfying, opening another dimension in how we interact with others –most valuable to a new-to-fiction-writing author. However, as a former technical writer and trainer, I will say that if you want this thinking reduced to how you can use it to skillfully manage a work-crew, sell lots of product, perform political wonders, the SQ21 will probably suit you much better — a practical toolbox for achievement. Guess I will try to share this same review on the Wigglesworth book.

The spiritually dumb and Newtonian society doesn’t recognize the most important part and missing link of intelligence. SQ answers to many questions you have tried to answer.
