All human pursuit is born out of a longing for happiness. Yet, this feeling is universally elusive and when attained, it is ephemeral. Why is it so hard to find happiness? Is there a way to make it last? If Sri Ramana Maharshi was asked this question, he would say, “Yes, there is a way. But to get there you must first find out who you really are.” Ramana Maharshi (1879-1950) and Ramesh Balsekar (1917-2009) are two of the greatest mystics of modern India. They taught non-duality (or advaita) as a way to Self-realization. Their teachings didn’t advocate a complex practice or a long path to enlightenment, instead they simply pointed out that we needed a correct understanding of our identity in order to be happy. unMind is a pure, succinct graphical retelling of some of the most powerful spiritual teachings that have emerged from India in the last century.

Title: unMined:
Review: Unmind: A Graphic Guide to Self-Realization by Siddharth Tripathi is a unique and insightful book that explores the profound teachings of two great Indian mystics, Ramana Maharshi and Ramesh Balsekar. Through a blend of engaging illustrations and concise explanations, Tripathi masterfully distills the essence of their non-dualistic philosophy, offering readers a practical guide to self-realization.The book begins by introducing the concept of non-duality, the idea that our true nature is inseparable from the ultimate reality. This fundamental insight forms the foundation of Ramana Maharshi and Balsekar’s teachings, which emphasize the importance of recognizing and abiding in one’s true self.Tripathi skillfully guides readers through the intricacies of non-dual thought, addressing common misconceptions and dispelling the illusion of a separate self. The book delves into the nature of the mind, explaining how our thoughts and beliefs create the illusion of separation and perpetuate suffering.Throughout the book, Tripathi emphasizes the importance of self-inquiry, a practice advocated by Ramana Maharshi as the direct path to self-realization. By turning one’s attention inward and questioning the nature of the self, we can begin to shed the layers of conditioning that obscure our true nature. The book also explores the role of surrender, a key concept in non-duality that involves accepting the present moment without judgment or resistance. By relinquishing our attachment to outcomes and surrendering to what is, we can experience a sense of peace and liberation.Unmind stands out for its ability to convey complex spiritual concepts in a clear and accessible manner. The illustrations are not mere embellishments; they serve as powerful tools for understanding and internalizing the teachings. Each visual element is carefully crafted to reinforce the central message of the book. The book’s concise format makes it an ideal companion for seekers of self-knowledge. The bite-sized chunks of information allow for easy absorption and reflection, while the overall structure provides a cohesive journey through the teachings.Whether you are a seasoned spiritual seeker or a newcomer to the path of self-realization, Unmind offers a valuable and transformative guide. Tripathi’s masterful presentation of non-dualistic wisdom has the potential to awaken readers to their true nature and guide them towards a life of peace and liberation.

Title: Loved the Teachings – Presented in a Way to Ease Understanding
Review: “I” loved the way this book is presented.Generally, philosophical or life-lesson books are lengthy, sometimes incomprehensible and bordering preachy. But not this one.The graphical format and lucid writing make it easy to absorb and understand. The book is also minimalistic – nothing beyond what is required. And the teachings are priceless.I liked it very much, and I have also ordered the physical copies for my family. I highly recommend this book. Please, go for it.

Title: A brilliant work, making Advaita philosophy understandable and interesting to the lay people
Review: It is a beautiful work that presents the philosophy of Ramana Maharshi in a way as simple as the teachings of the saint himself. It is, however, a difficult task to present Advaita philosophy through the graphic medium, as this philosophy apparently defies and urges us to demolish all possibilities of representation (nama rupa). Nevertheless, as we, the human beings, are essentially embedded in language, we can aspire to transcend the domain of representation (nama rupa) only through that very domain of representation. This is exactly what Mr Tripathi does here. He presents us with the apparently simple format of a graphic narrative which urges us to go beyond the mental constructions of images and ideas. In other words, he, effectively but entertainingly, urges our mind to “unmind” itself. A great achievement in the field of spiritual writing.
