So often, it’s the simplest acts of courage that touch the lives of others. Sudha Murty-through the exceptional work of the Infosys Foundation as well as through her own youth, family life and travels-encounters many such stories… And she tells them here in her characteristically clear-eyed, warm-hearted way. She talks candidly about the meaningful impact of her work in the devadasi community, her trials and tribulations as the only female student in her engineering college and the unexpected and inspiring consequences of her father’s kindness. From the quiet joy of discovering the reach of Indian cinema and the origins of Indian vegetables to the shallowness of judging others based on appearances, these are everyday struggles and victories, large and small. Unmasking both the beauty and ugliness of human nature, each of the real-life stories in this collection is reflective of a life lived with grace.

Review: Maintained the way she narrates her experience very well. Very inspirational and a bit emotional. This was like inspiring someone through examples and Sudha Ma’am does it really well.

Title: Layman’s views
Review: I liked the elegant but simple style, conveying the objective. Also liked the in depth researched information shared in the stories for the readers. Having detailed so much about AA’s mission and proceedings, author has not confirmed to the readers that whether Infosys foundation takes up or supports such projects. The assessment of projects and execution at foundation could have been included. I would recommend for all ages and more specifically for children. The thousand stitches story touched my heart and made me feel strongly that I should do something to help the society by actively participating through the work of foundation.

Title: An honest read.
Review: ‘Three Thousand Stitches’ is my first read by Sudha Murthy. Although i have heard a lot about her and had also watched some of her interviews, but i haven’t got a chance to read any of her books yet. Her simple and elegant demeanour has really impressed me, i remember how awestruck i was when i got to know her academic qualification followed by the impressive works she has done. She is a very exuberant woman who i truly believe is a perfect example of the famous saying ‘simple living, high thinking’.This is a short story book consisting of eleven true stories of her personal life. She has shared some notable experiences of her life, something she thought, would help people to get a better look into her upbringing and the place she has hailed from. Starting from her education, she explained the stigma attached to the engineering stream and how challenging it was for to become the first girl in her town who has opted the science stream and dared to spend the four years of her life in a college of 499 boys. Being the only girl in the entire college, it was initially tough to survive but her resilience and the unshakeable determination has made it possible. One of the stories was solely dedicated to the spiritual capital of India, Varanasi (Kashi) and it’s profound religious sentiments. The best part about her book is that her stories are vividly expressing the honesty with which it has been written down. Every chapter is a part of her life which articulates her thoughts and perspective towards life as a whole. The one chapter where she has shared her flight incident showed the widely-spread mindset we are living in and her aversion to such mentality has perhaps compelled her to share that with all the readers. I also like the one in which her entire day at Infosys has been elaborated. The language was very easy and the stories are really interesting which could boost one’s courage and willpower. Every story has some moral lessons which could be inculcated for a better life. A perfect and easy book for anyone who wants to begin reading as well as those who wants to find the real meaning of a life-fully-lived.

Title: Transcends ordinary into extraordinary
Review: “Unmasking both the beauty and the ugliness of human nature, each of the true stories in this collection is reflective of a life lived with Grace” BOOK : “THREE THOUSAND STICHES” – By Sudha MurtySudha Murty’s life battles had left a remarkable change in my views over life. It a collection of short stories where she had shared few events from her life. But could that create such an impact in the life of an individual? 😯 It barely expresses the hard realm of the life of a social worker. She talks about the devadasi community, and her contributions and trails towards the upliftment of their lives. From the discovery of an Indian cinema, the origins of our so called Indian vegetables, how people judge each other based on outer appearances, to everyday struggles, little victories and life lessons have been beautifully expressed 🐾🙇Sudha Murty had started to inspire me, and she had created the wantings to read her books more. I just love this little master piece of Sudh Murty’s collection. To talk about the writing style, it is very simplistic in the choice of words and helps the readers to understand the depth of the meaning, and a fast paced book.If any of you want to read some extraordinary books, then this would be the right choice ❤ “Ordinary people, Extraordinary lives” sudha_murthyQOTD : Have you read this book? What do you think about devadasi community ? And share some words if you like Sudha Murty 🙂

Review: I enjoyed reading the book. I like authors thoughts and her writing process. Every story has a hidden moral that you realize n get a connected. But I was a little disappointed as the name of the book n story of devadasi was opener to the book. I was expecting that stories are all based on different devadasi’s there personal life and how they felt etc but what I was expected wasn’t there the subject jumped from place to place. Though I jumped but I did enjoyed the read
