Title: is the finest reproductions of Jane Austen’s most loved novel
Review: Deliciously contemporary, Eligible, to me, is the finest reproductions of Jane Austen’s most loved novel. The plot is slightly different from the original, but amazing nonetheless. Liz Bennet, is at her best and Darcy,as we all love him, is flamboyant, yet reserved.

Title: A brave new take
Review: The book didnt start off easy, probably because the Pride and Prejudice devotee inside me was cringing with discomfort at seeing 39-year old Jane, 38-year old Lizzy and such a lackadaisical Mr Bennet who basically does nothing except bring his family to financial ruin and is calmly dont-care about it. But as the story progressed, I was hooked and even pulled a VERY late night to finish it. Without giving away any of the surprise plot changes, sufficient would be to say that the characters are true to their original selves in spirit if not in their realities, the story has been adapted well to the 2000’s and Darcy and Liz are as likeable as they were 200 years ago. Put aside your horror at the huge liberties taken with the story and the characters and enjoy the ride. 🙂

Title: Okay the story was good but could have been better
Review: Okay the story was good but could have been better. I felt that it would have been better if Liz were 28 instead of 38. I mean 38 is too old and some of her decisions seemed too immature for her age. Also the story dragged a bit at places. And I really missed the Gardiners in the story. I really liked them😒.Apart from these things I enjoyed the story. The chemistry of Liz and Darcy was good. Overall a nice read.

The characters will keep the readers amused with their misdirected and wrong moves while trying to settle down or make a living, as three of the sisters are still dependent on their old parents money and roof of their house. The main character, Liz, at first, might feel like bit bossy but then comes across someone like a saint, who devoid of her own troubles will jump into her family’s problems at first. Liz is an independent, modern woman who does not need a man to define her life or her success. And she is the epitome of all the modern day career-minded women. Darcy is the same old Darcy who is equally rich, flamboyant, successful, judgemental and the key player in almost all the sisters’ journey to matrimony. Review: I loved this book from start to finish and reread it as soon as I had finished it. It starts with the week long process of two people getting to know each other and how a potential relationship is destroyed by insecurities. Fast forward to Covid times when everyone is isolating and the relationship is rekindled via email. This is a book about the triumph of love over self doubt and is brought to a lovely and satisfying conclusion.

Review: I’ve read a lot of books set in ethe pride and Prejudice “universe” and this one is probably the best.It respects the characters and the plot, and we can find the same humor and irony as in the original version.It’s a great read, one that will be added to my feel-good list.

Review: Sittenfeld manages to be so relatable in bringing 19th Century writers into today’s world. She is very clever and so humorous. There is something age old in this tale. The main character is so strong, even though she struggles with being a woman just like so many other women today. I loved this book, from the laugh out loud parts to the sadness of her failures. It’s full of hope.
