An archaeologist’s wife is murdered on the shores of the River Tigris in Iraq…
It was clear to Amy Leatheran that something sinister was going on at the Hassanieh dig in Iraq; something associated with the presence of ‘Lovely Louise’, wife of celebrated archaeologist Dr Leidner.
In a few days’ time Hercule Poirot was due to drop in at the excavation site. But with Louise suffering from terrifying hallucinations, and tension within the group becoming almost unbearable, Poirot might just be too late…

Title: Amazing Settings!
Review: This book has a very intriguing plot. Poirot, as always, gives an unimaginably intricate explanation for the method of the killing.

Title: Hardbound with vintage feel
Review: The book, to my utter surprise was in hardbound cover and covered with dustjacket, the font and paper looks and feel vintage. At the price of 270 I was expecting it to be paperback. The vintage feel of this book is like icing on a cupcake and you really feel like you are reading a book written in 1930s.

Title: Another great mystery by the queen of crime
Review: Another great mystery by the queen of crime. The book has all the usual Christie trademarks leaving the reader a bit awed with the level of ingenuity. As the author spent quite a while with her husband (an archeologist by profession) she has accumulated a lot of knowledge about the workings of a dig. The story is about the bewitching wife of the chief archeologist, her adoring husband and the people involved in the expedition. We meet our beloved Poirot again with his ever present tittering and “humbleness” . The book is written from the point of view of a nurse and is much more personal as opposed to the other books I have read, which is refreshing to say the least. The ending as usual is as bizarre as it could be but explained well, a christie special. Glad to have read this one.

Title: Classical detective fiction
Review: This is a classical work of detective fiction by the most famous name in detective fiction since Arthur Conan Doyle (Sherlock Holmes author). Brilliantly plotted and very well written and reasonably priced on Kindle store. Definitely well worth a read.

Review: This book swept me into an adventure from start to finish. It offered a unique glimpse into Hercule Poirot’s investigative methods through a perspective other than Hastings. The surprising twist at the end left me guessing until the very last page. A truly satisfying read, and just the right length.

Review: One of the best and most complex Poirot tales. I believe that Christie herself went on several archeological digs, and that provides this story with the breath of authenticity. Well done.

Review: Amy Leatheran is a nurse employed to look after Louise Leidner. She isnât right and has been having hallucinations and is convinced someone is going to hurt her. Set at an excavation site at Hassanieh, the archaeological team are not what they seem and the tensions can be cut with a knife. Inevitably there is murder and Poirot is called in to solve this greatest of puzzles where murder is a habit.I really loved this one. I had half an inkling that Iâd watched this one at some point but I couldnât remember the details, which meant I came to this fresh and was hopelessly enthralled by it. Christie set this up brilliantly, I could really picture the setting, the dig site in the heat of the desert, the characters are perfectly described for us and the solution to this puzzle was ingenious!I am loving my Christie reads this year and travelling with Agatha

Review: I love Agatha Christie novels, both Poirot and Miss Marple, and devour them in one or two sittings. This was a classic Christie novel – a set up where the pool of suspects is limited (this time a plane, not a cruise ship, island resort or country house :D), a handful of red herrings, a young couple, the young person Poirot feels drawn to / protective of, and the inimitable Poirot himself. It wasn’t the best Poirot ever (not in my top 5), and I do prefer a nice ‘exotic’ murder setting, but it was a good solid murder mystery with a couple of well fleshed out characters (though quite a few were thinly drawn, around the edges of the plot). I would recommend it to any Christie fan, or to anyone wanting some nice light reading for a few days… funny to think of murder as light reading!
