Title: If I had to recommend one book to read in a lifetime, it would be this one
Review: This book is the best insight and a look inside the lives of masters. How they came about from nowhere, how they found what they like, how they became the best. This book is it. It was recommended by Dr. Andrew Humberman and I checked it out. Green’s best work in my opinion. While his other books are interesting, this one is the most practical and useful.

Title: Self-Help Classic
Review: I first heard of Robert Greene when I laid my hands on his debut book- “48 laws of Power”. It’s on self help but the subject matter is thought provoking and opposite to what you find in other books of similar kind. It swings to extreme. Though practical but difficult to digest at times. You either like it or hate it . There is no half measure. Despite mixed response including myriad number of critical reviews, the book was a best seller. It’s the author approach to the book that have again bought me to his series. This time, I zero in on “Mastery” Why some people and creatures are more suited and adept in coping with their environment ? Why some are more skillful than others ? Why some have the ability to predict events better than the others? With this book, Robert Greene has tried to answer that and other related issues. For years, psychologist have been trying to explore key ingredients underlying human being ability for self improvements. The author here emphasizes on developing intellects by going through various stages of mastery.Let’s touch upon few points that author has driven to explain.a)You have passion for something but it remains buried within inside. This can be again stimulated at any stage of life and in the process bringing primitive attraction to life.b)Refrain from making grand plans but instead focus on small and immediate skill, so that it become a base from which you can expand.c)During apprenticeship stage(initial learning stage) , refrain from seeking attention or impressing people.d)Practice steadily, diligently and with perseverance, so that skill is hardwired and internalized.e)Try to work with deadlines, either real or manufactured so that mind rises to that levelf)Drop pre-concieved notion about the world and utilize your power of imaginationg)Learn for your sake and gather wide range of ideas by reading on different fieldsh)Open and receptive to new ideas that challenges conventionality Touching every single point is outside the ambit of the review. What makes the author special is that he draws his points by drawing on evolutionary ideas, biological examples and historical case studies and these makes interesting and informative reading. For e.g., Feathers in bird develop from reptilian scale in order to keep them warm. Later on these feathers became adapted for flying. Jane Godall lived among chimpanzees in East Africa. A time came when she could think like them and could see elements of their social life. Another interesting example is that of a wasp who lay their egg inside caterpillar. The larvae feed on caterpillar fluid and comes out through caterpillar skin . Caterpillar acts as bodyguard and these larvaes spins their cocoons and starts maturing. Ultimately, caterpillar starves to death and tiny wasps emerges from their cocoon and fly away. In fact, the book has a lot of such interesting trivia . If you rate the book as stand alone, there are lot of takeaways . If you read it with an open mind by not keeping any expectation, the book is very informative . In my case, comparison with “48 laws of Power” was inevitable. The book may seems like dishonest, rude and blatant but the fact is that , it was much more straight forward, practical and pragmatic. On the contrary, “Mastery” is much more softer, decent and controversial free. The author has mellowed down here. The psychologist are not sorcerer who have a magic formula. Ultimately effort has to be taken by the individual. The book is no different. The author usher you to the path of mastery, repleting with myriad number of real life example. He focuses on the qualities that aids and hinder in self improvement. With this book, Robert Greene has again proved his mettle in his chosen realm. As usual, he has been scrupulous in his effort and the upshot is highly prodigious.

Title: A Genuine MASTERPIECE…!!!
Review: 318 Pages…350 bucks and 4 Days of my life..is the price i have paid..for the book…The wisdom i’ve got in return is Un-Quantifiable…period.The Content is Stimulating & Inspirational. The writing is Lucid & Exceptional. The Overarching thesis of the book is to Dissect and Illuminate the prevailing notion of our society that the people who changed the course of Human history like Einstein, Mozart,Darwin,Da Vinci, Goethe, Benjamin Franklin, Wright brothers and Edison etc are “BORN” Geniuses and the exceptional and uncanny talents they possessed can not be achieved by the ordinary, no matter how hard they try.Greene never argues the Greatness of these Humongously talented people..but he cleverly studies and throws light on the lives of these Masters, the Choices they made, The Attitude they had towards the challenges, and the Virtues they held like.. Temperament, Courage, Prudence, Perseverance..in the most compelling, captivating and veritable manner. He also studies the lives of contemporary masters like Paul graham(software engineer-Y Combinator), Dr.Ramachandran(Neuro scientist),Daniel Everette (Linguist who cracked the previously Undecipherable language of the isolated amazon tribe, Piraha). The concept that “The Cosmos” as a living, breathing, changing and evolging dynamic, concepts of Taoism,Stoicism,The Ulitmate Reality, and The Interconnectedness of the LIFE itself ….Were thought provoking and deeply stimulating.Modern man’s love and fetish for the technology, virtual world, the resulting atrophy of our wisdom as opposed to the Visceral connection and primal powers that we once had to connect with the nature was beautifully highlighted in the story – Navigators of the Indigenous islands of Oceania. The Book has 6 sections:1.Discover Your Calling : Life’s Task2.Submit to Reality : The Ideal Apprenticeship3.Absorb The Master’s Power: The Mentor Dynamic4.See People As they are: Social Intelligence5.Awaken the Dimensional mind: The Creative Active6.Fuse the Intuitive with The Rational: MasteryEach Section is a Goldmine with rich illustrations, captivating stories and Beautiful quotes.I wont actually delve into the book and highlight the Actual Passages/phrases but i will say this..”One who learns the vocabulary with diligence, perseverance and hard work will develop his ” Voice” and the others just make “Noise”.Its up to you where to end up with and what to do with your life.Whether all of us can become The Einsteins or The Da vincis after reading the book doesn’t matter and is NOT really the point..What really Counts is that no matter the sheer amount of adversities that you face in your life, if you are equipped with the Attitude,Qualities & the virtues, these masters held, ” You will reach your Maximum Potential “.And THAT………in my opinion, is what worth spending our quota of time on this Planet. —Thank you , Robert Greene.

Title: Not so great. But Good
Review: i am upset by reading this book as a fan of Robert Greene. The writer gave over importance to evolution theory which is proved as a false theory. And Darwin himself confessed about that theory as false in his last days. There are some good points also in this book like the diamonds hidden in stones. They are very helpful. If you want to get those diamonds you have to skip some stones(chapters).

Review: I have not finished this book yet, but I know that it changed people’s live. Listen to you heart and go for it. If you have a goal or if you have a plan in your mind: just get as much information as you can and work it out. You will find happiness when you have mastered “the skill” and you should choose that path that you’re dreaming about. Don’t listen to other people because they envy you. They want you to fit in their world. But if you want to chase your dream….just go for it.
