What does it take to have a successful sales career? What does it take to create a billion dollar startup?;What does it take to move up and get promoted in your corporate career? What does it take to succeed in life? It takes luck. Yes, some people are born into it. Some people fall into it. This book, for the first time, shares insights by two people──one, a startup founder and investor in India; and the other, a successful executive of a Fortune 500 company in the US──on how to increase the odds of success. You don’t have to be born into luck. You now have a chance to make your own. Whether it is landing the ideal job, surpassing your sales goals, or generating that billion-dollar startup idea, or finding ways to grow your business, you need an edge, an advantage—“luck accelerators” that help you and your business stand out, boosting you to new heights. Learn why it is not good enough to be better—instead, you need to be different. Understand why you don’t need a plan B, but instead need multiple plan As; what it means to have a Beginner’s Mind; and many other insights that you need to practise to increase your odds of success. Also, read the stories behind what it took to write the first investment cheques into today’s unicorns—Ola and Druva— when they were unknown and struggling for revenue. Stop waiting for luck to come into your life.Start making your own luck.

Title: A Must Read!! Enlightening and Inspiring!!
Review: This is the 1st book that challenges the notion thay luck just occurs randomly. That some people are favoured and others ignored by God.Through 7 principles and 20 case studies, it shows us how to take charge of our lives, making a habit of doing certain things, that when done produce positive outcomes for ourselves. Some of these priciples are obvious, such as Being Curious, which means understand things deeply, but this principle is forgotten in the daily race of life.Others like having a Beginner’s Mind, are new ideas, because till now we have been taught that it’s important to become an expert.I read the book and then i re-read half of it again. This is a book that one needs to keep with them and refer to regularly. Practicing the habits will take time.

Title: Give. Contribute. Help. Support. Create Value
Review: Rehan Yar Khan and Bob Miglani have touched a very important point which has inspired generations of people to do good and become successful in his book “Make your own Luck”. However since this startup ecosystem started and Rehan has been integral part of startup investing ecosystem of India. Both Rehan and Bob bring unparalleled experience and thy have been part of India story which has produced many unicorns. My personal favourite in this book is: Give: Create Value. Solve a problem for others. In pursuit to do good, we need money and financial success. But the question is how do I make Money?More often we start chasing success without thinking there are problems that we can solve which our society has. We need to give back before we ask for anything.Give. Contribute. Help. Support. Create Value, these have been mantra personally for my startup life and I see it as a validation coming from these stalwarts. The question to ask all of us is what we can do for you instead of asking what you can do for me?My another favourite in the book is “Diverge: Take the Road Less Travelled”. My favourite quote in the book from Chapter ” Do what is hard” is from Bob Miglani ” Doing what is had is the only path to growth:The book touches on every aspect of 100x growth and recommended for Early stage startup, Growth stage startups, Idea stage startups and even unicorns. Thank you for such a wonderful book for Starup ecosystem.

Review: While there are little gems sprinkled in the book, it suffers from excessive repetition and inconsistencies between the titles and contents of all chapters the book. The book can benefit a lot if the authors employ a skilled editor to clean up the content and the style of the book.
