Title: Great book, but poor paper quality
Review: One star minus for extremely poor paper quality. This is the book that a young Feynman allegedly learnt calculus from. American publishers such as this one and Basic Books that publishes Leonard Susskind’s Theoretical Minimum books do a great disservice by publishing math & science Classics such as these on toilet paper. Granted they do not sell as much as textbooks but they preserve and disseminate knowledge in a way no textbook ever can. When the day comes when someone advances Math or Physics in a fundamental way and thereby creates a tectonic shift; the odds of him or her having picked up their knowledge of the subject from these kinds of books will be massive. Therefore if such books are continued to be published on paper that start crumbling and yellowing after a couple of years, it will be a huge disservice to both the author and the subject and to posterity as a whole. Respect for the subject which your people have helped develop over millennia is a precursor to respecting yourself, who you are and where you are from. Perhaps this is one reason why China is leading both USA and India in fields of math and science. P.S – And I am not even talking about how pricey these books are!
